Recovery after Kshar Sutra is gradual but easy to live with. Most patients walk home the same day and return to desk work within 1–2 days. For piles, the treated pile mass usually shrinks and falls off in about 7–10 days. For fistula, the thread is changed weekly and the track heals over several weeks, depending on its length.
Rule of thumb for fistula: the thread cuts and heals roughly 0.5–1 cm of track per week. A 4 cm track therefore needs about 4–8 weekly sittings. Complex, branched or recurrent fistulas take longer. Your doctor will measure the track at the first visit and tell you the expected duration.
